The Bilal Movie: Why it still reinforces the Slave-Narrative of Black-People.

Standard

20180204_095229
The Bilāl Movie is actually a Sucka-Emcee Production: Bilāl ibn-Rabāh (May Allah be pleased with him) actually was Arab via his Father Rabāh, from Banī-Jumah, one of the Families of Quraysh, making Bilāl Tribally-Related to Muhammad (Peace be upon him).(The Sealed-Nectar) The mere fact that Rabāh is neither casted, mentioned, nor even referenced in the Film, truly says a lot as per the Agenda of the Producers of this Film: to do exactly what the Pagan Arabs did to Bilāl, which was to deny him his Arabness & replace it with Blackness. I’ll speak more on this-The Reason why Blackness was imposed upon Bilāl is because as a Slave (prior to his Liberation) he had 0-Rights, not even the Right to lay claim to his own Paternal Arab-Genealogy. This, of course, was due to the fact that the Arabs possessed immense disdain for Abyssinia/Ancient-Ethiopia & its People, resulting from the generational Military-Conflicts between them, based upon religio-political & socio-economic dominance in the region, which of course was imposed upon Bilāl, by virtue of him having an Abyssinian-Mother.

The Political-Discord between the Arabs & Abyssinians occured as a result of the Abyssinians of Yemen, then a Colony of Abyssinia, wanting to divert Commerce from al-Makkah to Yemen via making a Church named al-Qullays: a Mock-Kabah, to draw Pilgrims to make al-Hajj/Pilgrimage in Yemen as opposed to al-Makkah. Once the Quraysh learned of this, a Man went to Yemen and desecrated this Church, infuriating the People of Yemen, thereby inciting War…this became known as the War of the Elephant. After the War/Year of the Elephant, which an Abyssinian-Army with an Elephant-Cavalry failed to invade/conquer al-Makkah and were defeated (resulting from Allah casting upon them Flocks of Birds dropping Sijjīl/Firery-Stones [Noble-Qur’ān: Chpt.105; at-Tabarī; as-Suyūtī]), in retaliation, the Arabs of al-Makkah: the Quraysh & their many Allies in turn invaded Yemen. When this happened, countless Abyssinians were captured by the Arabs, including the Mother of Bilāl, Hammāmah, of Abyssinian-Royalty, and Human-Trafficked to al-Makkah-These People became Slaves.(ibn-Ishāq, at-Tabarī, as-Suyūtī) And, this is actually why Bilāl ibn-Rabāh was referred to in a disrespectful way, by Abī-Dharr al-Ghifārī (May Allah be pleased with him)…by the way: the Narration never textually states that he called Bilāl “Son of a Black-Woman”…that was a Commentative Add-On, as is commonly told concerning this Story. This is exclusively based upon Scholastic-Conjecture on part of al-Bukhārī, which this Add-On exists within his Hadīth-Collection Sahīh-ul-Bukhārī.(Fath-ul-Bārī) Ironically, even Abū-Dharr al-Ghifārī is described as being Darkskinned.(ibn-Ishāq, at-Tabarī, as-Suyūtī, Muslim, ibn-Sa`d, adh-Dhahabī, http://www.alajamwalarab.com)

This Film also (subliminally) simply is a Muslim-Version of 12-Years A Slave: it reinforces Subserviance, Destitution, Acceptance of Slave-Culture, etc. Why is it that Bilāl is the only “Black-Companion” highlighted/depicted in Film, Narrative, etc. as “the Slave/Ex-Slave”?!!! Why is it that none of Bilāl’s Military/Statesmanhood Accomplishments are ever highlighted/detailed in Film/Narrative?!!! For example: did you know that Bilāl participated in all the known Major-Battles during the Lifetime of Muhammad (Peace be upon him); did you know that Bilāl was the 1st Minister of Bayt-il-Māl/Secretary of the Islāmic-Treasury: the Chief-Administrator responsible for the collection of az-Zakāh/Taxation & distribution of as-Sadaqah/Philanthropy?!!!(Battles Of The Prophet, Lives Of The Companions, at-Tabarī, as-Suyūtī)

20180204_095150
The only Reason why Bilāl is still inaccurately portrayed as being “Black” is because he was once a Slave. Had he always been Free, no one would’ve ever attributed “Blackness” to Bilāl. Let’s actually take a look at what the Skin-Complexion of Bilāl actually was. According to Ahādīth/Narrations, recorded in various Collections: Bilāl really wasn’t any darker than any other Muslim/Non Muslim Arabs of his Lifetime. In fact, it was common-place for Arabs to boast & laude their Dark-Complexions & ridicule the Complexions of Non-Arabs described as al-Humrah (Reddish-White).(Lisān-ul`Arab: Lexicon of the Arabic-Language, ibn-Manzhūr) However, ironically, almost every single portrayal of him in Literature, Film, etc. depicts him as “Shaka Zulu Black” and/or the Darkest-Person around. Like, in the Film “The Message” for example…the Producers of this Film (in both the Hollywood & Arab Versions) purposely casted the Darkest/Blackest Human-Being they could find to portray Bilāl on Screen…the Question is why?!!! Simple, to continue the Pseudo-Narrative of equating Blackness to Slavery & Servitude. Even in the Hollywood version of “The Message”, Bilāl is emphatically called “Black-Bilāl”…Word4Word…that alone should tell you something.

20180204_113740
The Pseudo-Narrative of Bilāl is directly paralleled with the Pseudo-Narrative of Sally Hemings: the only Reasons why either of them are ethno-historically falsely-portrayed as being “Black” is because they were both Born-Slaves & both their Mothers were Black (Hammāmah, Betty Hemings: even Betty Hemings herself had a European-Father but cause she was a Slave she was considered “Black”). The Father, Paternal-Grandfather, Paternal Great-Grandfather of Sally Hemings were all White-Men/Slave-Owners. Her Slave-Owner, Thomas Jefferson (who essentially used her as a Sex-Slave) was actually her Brother-In-Law (Jefferson’s Wife, Martha Wayles & Sally Hemings had the same Father: John Wayles).(at-Tabarī; Hayāt-us-Sahābah; Virginia House of Burgesses: British Coastal Colonial Law of Slavery, 1660)

Muslim Matters actually published a Review of the Movie.(https://muslimmatters.org/2018/02/03/5-things-to-know-about-the-movie-before-watching-it-review-of-bilal-a-new-breed-of-hero/) Their Film-Commentary of Bilāl not only reinforces my Point, as per the continuation of a Pseudo-Narrrative, predicated upon al-`Asabiyyah/Xenophobia, but also the Major-Themes of Islām aren’t even highlighted. Once again, the important Narrative of Bilāl has been shamefully compromised, at the expense of wanting to capitalize on “Blackness” being at the forefront of World/US Politics via Libya, Police-Brutality, Racial-Profiling, Human-Trafficking, etc.

Eric Garner: the NYPD was his Judge Jury & Executioner

Standard

Eric Garner

NYPD Officers, in Staten Island, New York City, are responsible for the unjust, unnecessary, death by choking, of a Eric Garner. To some this is just a usual isolated incident, of NYPD policing gone terribly wrong. However, for Peoples of Afro-American & Latino-American descent, this has become an all too prevalent expectation of ours: to be confronted, assaulted, violated, and possibly murdered, without any thorough investigation, a nonsense farce of a trial, in another part of New York State, to ensure the acquittals of the Officers who abuse their authority against their victims.

This free-for-all melee of abuses of policing-powers, ever since the dark-days of the Rudy Giuliani administrations, till the present day, we, as ethnically marginalized Peoples, along with other types of targeted demographics, such as Muslims, for example, which I am also a member of this particular demographic… so now, I have 3-strikes against me: Muslim…Black/Hispanic…Black/Hispanic Male…I could’ve just as easily been victimized in the savage manner as Eric Garner was, in my native Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn.

One really has to ask one’s self a very serious question: “Okay, this man was confronted by Police, for whatever reason. But, how & why did it escalate to him dying, and by being choked to death? Where is the judge & jury, where’s the recitation of this person’s Miranda-Rights, where’s his phone-call for his atorney/next-of-kin, where’s his day in Court?”. And, sadly, his day in Court was deal to him like gangsters deal with their adversaries, for Eric Garner, Court was held in the Streets. But, then, what is the point of Police, when they are the one’s constantly violating the laws in which they’re hired, paid, trusted by their Citizenry & lawmakers to uphold.

In the words of a very wise, young, Muslim-Brother, by the name of Ibrahim Jaaber, “You can’t uphold the Law, if you’re the one above it.”. And, this is the crust of the problem, folks: persons with guns & badges, who think that those they’ve sworn to “protect & serve” are to have the absolute right to abuse & dehumanize all and or any whom they wish, just because the have the fire-power, and political-protection, known as their shields, to do so. So, what are we, as a People, as a society, as a Nation, going to do about this? We can no longer state that, “Oh, they’re just doing their jobs.”, we got that cleared-up with the finds of Stop-And-Frisk, along with religious infiltration into specific Religious-Communities, more specifically, Muslim-Communities. And, we can’t state that these are isolated incidents, because, from Anthony Baez, to Abner Louima, to Amadu Diallo, to Sean Bell, and now Eric Garner…what the Hell is going on?!!!

I’ll tell you exactly what’s going on, we have severely regressed, as a society & nation, and have reverted back to the old-ways of the olden days of Jim-Crow type policing-abuses, which basically give the Police the unlimited authority to abuse whom they choose, with little to no consequences on part of the Officers in question who abuse, while even pressuring, threatening, victims with deportation, violence, etc., for exposing the abuses of authority by Police. It’s crystal-clear to me, and should be to anyone & everyone else that there’s is no such thing as a Colorless-America, since Barack Obama has been a President, nor has the dreams of persons like Martin Luther King, Jr. have been authentically realized, nor has there been any true strides by the so-called leaders of our communities to do anything substantial to change the negative nature & relationship that the Common-People have with Law-Enforcement.

Fuck the Police-State!!!

Author’s note:

This following poem is a commemoration, of the famous, classic Rap-Song, “Fuck The Police”, by the famous/infamous Rap-Group, known as “NWA/Niggas With Attitude”. Although, raunchy & vulgar as this particular hit was/is, it truly brought the point home, concerning how policing in Non-White neighborhoods, play-out, and are ethno-politically biased, from jump-street, and keep in-mind that this song is about 30-years old, yet, ironically, the same exact policing-policies, all across this nation, we call the United States of America, have barely changed, if at all. Fortunately, my poem is not vulgar, as the song I’ve mentioned is, yet it is just as (in the words of my loving, Muslim brother, Cyrus McGoldrick) “Radical”, in fact, just as radical, if not more radical, than this top-charting urban ballad, written & recorded, over 3-decades ago.

Big-Brother is outta control, because, his parents are not home.

He’s able to kill anyone he wants, with just the strike of a drone.

He rapes & locks-up, chains, cuffs, and slaps-up, anyone he chooses, with the support of his malicious War-Machine…

…Millions of illiterate, gun-toting, teens & young-men, sent to the frontlines, to simply kill, and, be killed, to be supreme.

The time is now…we can’t wait!!!

We must resist the Police-State!!!

He gestures, with dangerous-threats, using his weapons; he has no regard for the oppressed, or their loved ones…

…He’s a murderer, swindler, thief; his entire life has been spent upon insatiable control, with his nukes, and, his guns.

He uses billy-clubs, bombs & Napalm, to beat-down, destroy & disintegrate.

These tools are solely meant to exploit, disrespect, abuse & to utterly berate.

The time is now…we can’t wait!!!

We must resist the Police-State!!!

This Police-State, which we all call home, is supported by Banksters, Lobbyists & Politicians.

These same people flood Churches, on Sundays, and masquerade, as god-fearing Christians.

It grants full-support to the corruption, caused by Wall Street, as they, like greedy Hawks, pillage Main Street & prey upon the feeble…

…When you really examine, who gets away with what & who gets persecuted, it’s pretty easy to tell the difference between good & evil.

The time is now…we can’t wait!!!

We must resist the Police-State!!!

How many “We shall overcome” hymns should we hum, before we rise-up & fight back, with courage & much more?!!!

When are we gonna stop yelling, at rallies “No Justice…no Peace”, before we stand firm & prepare to wage war?!!!

A Story of Islamophobia: Bias, Fear, and Injustice

Standard

Author’s note:
This is the story of someone whom I know personally, whom was a victim of malicious, immoral, unethical, and illegal, Islamophobia, just because they were Muslim, had an Arabic name, came from, ancestrally, from a part of the Muslim-World, and, because they were neither a U.S.-citizen, nor a citizen of their respective native-land.

This is what was told to me:

“I was traveling to visit one of my relatives; I really don’t like to take for granted the freedom and the respect I have been enjoying since I came to America. But this weekend, I have felt very humiliated and mistreated by authorities in both the nation in which I was in, as well as the US. When I arrived in the country my relative lives, the authorities denied entry in the country: they said that I did not have a passport. I’ve used American travel-documents, which is issued for refugees without citizenship, on more than one occasion, and had no previous issues, traveling to places outside of the U.S., prior to this incident; likewise, I had went to this particular country, last year, using these same travel-documents, without any problems.

They took seized my travel-documents, and also my green-card, after they denied me entry. I told them that if they are not going to allow me in, then at least just allow me to return to the U.S.. But, these guys weren’t trying to listen to me, at all-they really started treating me like I was nothing but piece of garbage, which disturbed me greatly. They thought I had no government that defends my rights, which is true-I do not have citizenship to any country yet. I am holding neither US passport nor any other national-passport. The authorities had told me that, if I had at least had a passport along with my U.S. travel-documents, then I could’ve been allowed to stay.

So, here I am, on a plane going directly back to where I had came from, heading back to America. However, there’s a lot more this-it does not just end, here. When I had boarded my flight back to the U.S.,  my green-card and travel-documents weren’t even returned to me, they were given, instead, to the airline & I was told that I’ll get everything back once I land in the U.S., and this is where frustration & anger started to really kick-in: I had told them that they had no right to keep my documents & property away from me and that I’m leaving this country. They said no, you can’t have it back. I felt so humiliated and realized how weak and unfortunate I am.

When I arrived back into the U.S., the airline gave me back my documents. When I checked in, a U.S. Customs & Border Protection officer took my fingerprints, and then, forwarded me to another officer who then further inspected me. He started to ask me why I went to the country I had just came from, where did I get travel-money from…he started an argument, with me, about my recent trip. He said, ‘You were re-admitted last January and now, again, you are traveling?’…’Who helps you?’. I told him I that I have jobs to support myself. He then asked how much I am paid an hour…he then took away my wallet and checked everything it, asking me about how I got my credit cards. He asked me to open my suitcase and to take everything I had out of it. He then took away my backpack and opened my iPad, a binder, and some letters in it, this was a blatant invasion of my privacy. When I asked why is this even necessary, he told me I am not a US citizen, so I am subjected inspection.

After that, then in the checking area, two guys took me away to a room, after I was fully checked with an x-ray machine. They did a full pat-down on me, touching every part of my body. Then, another guy took my backpacks and coat for further inspection, itt was so stressful. I just wish that I did not have to undergo all of these troubles simply that I have a name which starts ‘Abu’ or that I am an immigrant, or tourist from a country that’s viewed negatively, by the U.S., and her allies. This year, I had about 4 trips on my schedule, but I am going to call off all of them. I just don’t want to undergo what I have went through this weekend.”

Anonymous

So, upon learning of this, I had immediately, told the person who told me their story, to inform CAIR/Council on American Islamic Relations, and I specifically gave them the contact-info. of the CAIR-NY Director, Muneer Awad. Sadly, this person was just too afraid to come forward & share their story. I even assured this person that the details of their story would be honored as anonymous, that they wouldn’t be required to give their name, rather, just their statement. But, alas, they even refused that, because they were so shaken-up & fearful that if they were to say anything that they wouldn’t be able to stay/live here (in the U.S.), any longer, that they’d lose their financial-aid status & may even get kicked-out of school, get deported to their respective land of origin (even though they either never grew-up there, never been there & were only born there), detained, tortured, killed, etc.

All of this is so deeply disturbing, how our government, as well as governments like ours deems it okay to intimidate persons, just because they’re Muslims, immigrants, residents/illegals, as opposed to full-fledged citizens, etc. But, at the end of the day, these are still the lives of Human beings, and as such we all, regardless of subjective national, state, or local, religious or secular, laws, are entitled to basic Human-Rights of the following: life, dignity, property. And, unfortunately, at least two out of these three were severely violated, to the extent that this person was made to feel as though their status as a Human being had absolutely no value.

This is not how things are supposed to be: I should never have to walk the streets in fear (of being detained, deported, arrested, beaten-up/having to beat someone up, being killed/having to kill someone, etc.), just because I’m a Muslim, or an undocumented-immigrant, a resident, a Non-English speaker, Non-European/White person. This story really affected my heart, mainly because I know how it feels to be harassed by authorities; but, also because at least with me (someone who was born here/a U.S.-citizen), I know certain important elements of the law, which can protect me from most things, pretty much; but, with people like this person, by virtue of the fact that they are not at least citizens, they’re made to be “easy-pickin’s”, or “fair-game”, of predatorial Islamophobes & Xenophobes, whether they’re as micro as a Dunkin’ Donuts employee/Manager, refusing to serve you, or as macro as the President of the United States of America, who orders/co-signs drone-strikes, or religious/ethnic round-ups against its own citizenry.

Aside

Mustapha Ndanusa pic

Author’s note:

Mustapha Ndanusa, Esq. is an Attorney, practicing in NYC, where he grew-up. He’s very well-versed in social-issues plaguing the Muslim, minority, and immigrant communities, all across the United States. As a result of 9/11, there have been multiple cases of individuals, both Muslim & Non-Muslim alike, whom have been killed, deported, detained, etc. & all based upon baseless pretences, exclusively conjured by the whimsical policies/agendas of the U.S. government, with the direct assistance of local, state and Federal Law-Enforcement agencies & departments. What Mustapha has written about is how to look for potential governmental red-flag, entrapping tactics, which we all need to be intelligently aware of.

Not long ago, before President Obama had him killed, Anwar Al-Awlaki was the darling of fear-mongers. Videos of him defiant against the US and US interest were played often at the height of the Awlaki hysteria. I waited anxiously for the elephant in the room to ultimately be discussed by Fox News and other even more supposedly liberal news outlets. But it never happened. The elephant went undiscussed, and now I think it was because the world simply did not know, is that Anwar Awlaki was very very popular in the Muslim households with his series on the Lives of the Prophets, the Life of the Prophets and many others.

It is unlikely, even today, that you can ask three Muslims about Awlaki’s audio classes and not find one that possesses a copy in his/her home – or at least did so at one point. I still have cassettes of his series. I mentioned Anwar Al Awlaki’s series because if one was tested with being charged with terrorism charges, no matter how minor, better pray to God that you don’t still have a dust covered copy of any Anwar Awlaki contraband in your closet.  If you do, be sure that you will be found guilty, or at least your chances of being found guilty is increased significantly.

If you doubt what I have just said about your changes of  being “gitmoed,” consider the evidentiary value of something so innocuous as “Bulugh Al-Maram” or “Riyadus Saalihin”. Bulugh Al-Maram, a book well known in the Muslim world, is a collection of Ahaadith (sing. Hadith) on Fiqh/Islamic-Jurisprudence. Another book, Riyadus Saalihin, gives samplings of Islamic beliefs, drawing from selections of Ahaadith and Quranic-verses. Having either one of these books, particularly the latter, might be dangerous contraband used to confirm a mind bent on destruction.  Contained in Riyadus Saalihin is the book of Jihad and several Ahaadith exclaiming the virtues of archery, horse riding and other acts.

In 2007, Dr. Rafeeq Sabir was convicted providing material support to terrorists. While there were many other things that were used to convict Dr. Sabir, one piece of evidence was his possession of one of the two books mentioned above.  In particular, one of the books, more than likely Riyadus Saalihin, contained passages encouraging the riding of horses and the practice of archery – the passages having been highlighted by Dr. Sabir himself. As fate would have it, Dr. Sabir owned a cross-bow and had learned to ride horse while in Saudi Arabia. Well, there you have it, if you legally own a cross-bow and dare learn to ride a horse and you are a Muslim, you are likely a terrorist in training or a terrorist already. So, what should one do?

There is no law that says you cannot own a copy of either of these two great books or that if you bought a copy of Mein Kampf you are a Nazi waiting to be awoken. One should not be worried about buying such books.  However, be smart, read the book and for God’s sake, don’t highlight anything.

Don’t assume that I’m a Rapper, just because I wear Jeans & a T-Shirt.
Don’t just look at the length of my beard and just think I’m out of work.

Please…do not assume that, because the country I am from sounds exotic, I can fly a magic-carpet.
Why do you judge people you do not know? Let me explain to you why I wear my native garment.

Even though I grew up in an urban environment, I’m not a drug-dealer.
You would never know that I could be your child’s mentor or teacher.

Even though I’ve got some tattoos, I don’t have to be a gang-member.
We all have skeletons in our closets; so, be kind to me, be a lil’ tender.

Me speaking a different language does not mean that I had hopped over a border.
We don’t all just work at fast-food joints & restaurants, ready to take your order.

Just because I don’t work on Wall Street doesn’t mean that I am on Welfare.
Just because my mother raised me does not mean that my father did not care.

Don’t presume that because I’ve got slanted-eyes that I can cook fried-rice.
Don’t just think that, because I grew up in the hood, I’m not able to be nice.

Think not that just because I’m from a different place that I’m into building-bombing.
Think not that, because my skin-color isn’t like yours, I’m into shooting and robbing.

We all must take the time to look beyond the physical, the superficial.
We need to realize that our variations are what make all of us special.

It is only the internal, and not the external, that defines the quality of any Human being.

I’m takin’ back my voice!!!

Don’t speak for me.
I’m a man and free.

My religion doesn’t give hatemongers the credence to silence me.
Having a beard is not a license to detain me, for an hour or three.

My Arabic tongue shouldn’t be a reason to be doomed, living a life of the falsely-accused.
This pain, of living with Islamophobia, hurts worse than that of a lung punctured & bruised.

Neither my sister, nor mother, are not victims, just because they chose to cover their body.
They wear Hijab in order to please Allah, their creator, and it makes them proud & happy.

I have with me only one, single weapon.
It has now become a prized-possession.

I have my own voice.
With it, I make noise.

It states proudly, to the world, that Islam does not oppress.
How our women do not have to conform to immoral-dress.

How our men don’t have to hurt someone to gain respect.
It’s part of our faith, and duty, to serve, as well as protect.

It tells everyone, everywhere, that we will not take attacks lying-down.
Islam won’t stop spreading, until it reaches every home & every town.

My voice verbally affirms who I am.
It’s time for you & I to take a stand.

My thoughts on the Sikh Temple shooting in Milwaukee, Wisconsin:

Standard

When people think about Wisconsin, they usually think about cheese, not murder, especially when these murders are xenophobically motivated. This Summer will be known for a lot of things, and unfortunately, murders will be at the top of the list, of our 2012. First, it was the gruesome murder of Trayvon Martin, then, the recent, well-known, Batman movie tragedy, and, now, it’s a copy-cat kind of massacre, that has swept across the American heartland, in Milwaukee, WI. And, personally, I feel & fear that this is going to continue for some time-These copy-cat murders are definitely on the way, and our Federal government needs to do something substantial, in order to properly protect its citizenry.

It’s just really sad how much people don’t value the Human worth of others, soley because they ascribe to a different religion, or come from a different place. I’ve often questioned myself, as to how violent our world is now, and am deathly afraid of raising children in this modern age. I don’t want my children to be victimized by violence, just because they’re Muslims, or just because they’re Afro-American, or just because-I want not my children to be subjected to live in fear of being killed or arrested, because they don’t fit the prototype of a white cast member of 90210 or Gossip Girl. They should be able to enjoy the right to live just like any other Human being. But, unfortunately, there are people, still, within the borders of our United States, a nation of migrants immigrants & more accurately, foreigners, who still have the nerve to view others as undesirable foreigners, who stand as a threat to the American way of life. These string of tragedies have proven one thing to me: We, the people of the United States are not united in any way at all. We all love to proclaim this esoteric, and utopian facade of freedom, justice & equality in America. But, where was the freedom to live & be left alone for people like Trayvon Martin, or the victims of the Batman movie massacre, in Aurora, CO, or the victims of the Sikh temple massacre, in Milwaukee,WI?

The major problem is that racial/religious-profiling has not been dealt with as seriously as it should be. There definitely has to be greater resources expended by local, state & Federal governments, to ensure that people living within the borders of the United States are safe. And, just making gun-laws more restrictive is not going to solve the problem, for several reasons: One, illegal guns have always been smuggled in the United States, for decades, and the United States, at different times in her history (like in the case of the Iran-Contra Affair), has actually benefited from gun-smuggling. Two, the right to bare arms is part of the U.S. & state constitutions, and for you to infringe on those rights, you would be infringing on certain freedoms that are part of the legal fabric of our nation.

However, still, there has to be ways in which people, whom are criminals (felons, etc.) never have access to arms. But, they do. As in the case of the murderer of Trayvon Martin: George Zimmerman had been charged with two separate felonies: “resisting officer with violence” & “battery of law enforcement officer”. Although when these two charges were dropped, someone should’ve red-flagged this guy, when he went to purchase some guns. And, unfortunately, he was not, and because of this lack of proper background checking, a young Trayvon Martin is now dead.

Likewise with the murderers of the Batman movie massacre & more recently, the Wisconsin massacre, Wade Michael Page & James Eagan Holmes, respectively-How did these guys get their guns?!!! The failure of gun-control is not the result of lack of laws regulating it, it’s a problem in which race, class, and regional residence play a significant part in who gets guns & who doesn’t. For example, if you’re a white man, living in Arizona, the likeliness of you getting harassed about buying & owing a gun is a hell of a lot less, as opposed to being Afro-American or Latino, living in a major city, like New York, Chicago, L.A., etc., regardless of the fact that those living in a major city may very well have clean records. But, because of their ethnicities, and where they live, they’re automatically red-flagged, when it comes to arms possession, which is not right, not, fair & not democratic, period.

My stance is that the main problem & solution to gun-violence, whether it’s in the slums of Atlanta, New York, Chicago, Miami, or LA., or in the posh, polished, suburbs of places like Beverly Hills, lies exclusively regular everyday people just like you & I. It is we, the people of this nation have the moral, ethical, and legal responsibility, to not just change things, but, to improve things & not just for ourselves, rather, for our communities & our country.

Why must a person be oppressed, just because of the color of their skin, the family they born into, what ethnic group they belong to, or the part of the world that they come from? Have we really become that savage & barbaric, that we have to treat one another like we’re predator & prey, in the animal-kingdom? Have we really devalued the preciousness of the Humanity of others, to this great extent, that they don’t even have the right to live, because of genetic features that Allah has chosen to create them with, without their consent?!!!

These are all questions that I’ve been thinking about, during the past two weeks, concerning the recent deaths, more accurately, the murders, of Trayvon Martin, of Orlando, Fl & Shaima Alawadi, of El Cajon, Ca. These people were the obvious victims of blatant xenophobic bias & discrimination. Yet, little to nothing is being substantially done about either case. I mean, take Trayvon Martin’s murderer, George Zimmerman, for example: His killer hasn’t even been arrested, or even brought in for questioning yet-He’s allowed to walk around, as free as a bird, while he’s directly responsible for the death of a Human being, without any valid cause. And, in the case of Shaima Alawadi, there was a note left near her body, which stated “Go back home”, indicating that not only was she brutally murdered by someone that she knew personally, or was familiar with, but, this person had targeted her, exclusively because she was not an American citizen at birth.

We have truly sunk so low as a society: Human-life, like all life, is priceless; however, we’ve wrongly placed a price-tag on it, and whoever we deem as not as Humanly valuable as others are labelled as expendable. But, who in the hell gave us the right, or justification, to decide whose life is more or most valuable? We must, as a Human family, as a global society, as a people, really reevaluate what our core-values are. And, honestly, values without morals, are like flames without heat. And, morals without divine-direction are like a volcanoes which are dormant.

Sometimes, I wonder what type of world am I going to leave behind for any children that I may have. More accurately, I don’t even want to raise children, in a world, where they can be hunted down like they’re in-season, like they’re a duck or whale, just because they are Muslim, or Black, or from a major-city, from an urbanized neighborhood. It’s truly depressing that we have our following generations, whom will succeed us in this Mundane-Life, have to inherit this. This world, that we’re leaving behind to them, is full of our innumerable fuck-ups & errors. We’ve destroyed whole civilizations of people, national-infrastructures, indigenous ways of life, the air-quality, the environment generally, the natural habitats of wild-life, etc.

What we have evolved into, spiritually, mentally, and socially, are monsters, and this is not what Allah, our Creator, has placed us into existence for. He didn’t make us to inhabit the Earth to destroy it, and consequently destroy ourselves in the process. He didn’t make us to wage war upon one another, just because of skin color, ethnicity, social, or political status. He didn’t make us to be of those whom are strong to prey upon the weak, just as the wolf preys upon the lamb. It’s like all of us have turned into the real-life versions of Anakin Skywalker, in Episode 3, when he officially turned to the Darkside, and began to manifest his insatiable thirst for bloodshed & destruction. But, instead of the title being “Revenge of the Sith”, it’s “Revenge of Savagery”. When is our real-life Episode 6 going to come out? Instead of “Return of the Jedi”, we need our episode to be named “Return of Humanity”.
