Jihad is not a Bad-Word:

Standard

gareth-bryant-eid-pics-23.jpg

Imma tell ya a story of what Jihad really is Folks: it’s not this dirty-word, that Islamophobic Birds chirp about in the Media…
…it’s something that starts from the individual, and works its way into the Public, to establish Divine-Justice, the Shari`ah…

…Each of us have plenty trials, flaws, and sins…
…but, we work hard turning our losses into wins…

…When we see deception in the Eyes, enticed by the Passion of the Flesh…
…it’s then, friends, that we rely upon Allah, to make us better than the rest…

…Everyday, I see that Girl, I just wanna make her my World…
…but, if I just sex her, she will be just another tainted Pearl…

…I must challenge my Soul, to place my Ego under water…
…press down, down, down, never let my standards falter…

…She looks at me, with all glee, and wants to kick it wit me…
…she wants to fulfill all my fantasies which aren’t my reality…

…She sees I’m striving, she wouldn’t pursue me directly…
…she says she wants to learn & she wants to attain Piety…

…But, I’m a Street-Dude and I know how this goes…
…she tries to whisper in my ear, “Nobody knows”…

But, that’s not true, the One who made me & you, surely sees what is prior & after what we do…
…You run a good-game, wit ya bad-self, I gotta fall back, you runnin’ wit Shaytan and his crew…

…When you undress, your picturesque frame keeps me in a state of disdain & I say “DAMN”…
…Now, how am I supposed to resist such a fine Woman, that I was created to love, as a Man…

…By putting my face on the floor, crying, yelling, till I collapse a Lung…
…Oh, my Lord, do not let me get caught-up, do not let me get sprung…

…You chose to make me Muslim for a reason, to withstand any season…
…to face any type of enemy, whether they be a Gang or a mighty Legion…

…But, the greatest fight, that we don’t view with insight, is with the enemy within…
…an-Nafs, the Ego, is a crafty fellow, who seems calm and mellow, but is poison…

…We boast that we can fight armies of thousands, when we cannot even turn away from that gaze…
…We claim that we “ready to die”, but is your scorecard of Life enough to protect you in the Grave…

…Please take heed: the desire for Wealth and Power, the want to have who you want, under the sheets in that midnight session…
…could very well be that which drowns your Soul, and drags it to the fiery Oceans of Hell, and no Lifeguard will take that mission…

…After which there will not be life-rafts, nor lifeboats, to bring you out, except by Allah’s Divine-Klout…
…but, who wants to go through that, wouldn’t it be better to just enter the Paradise, without account…

…We don’t think, because, we don’t know, we don’t know, because we don’t care…
…Now, unless you show concern & care, those who are like this will be in despair…

…We should want the best for the People, and also, better for ourselves…
…this involves subduing the Self, and removing all our internal carnal ills…

…So, this is Jihad, the struggle against our negative…
…Defeat is not an option, while Victory is imperative…

The Sharh/Explanation of “Breaking-Bad”, by William “Suhaib” Webb:

Author’s note:

The following article is directly from the words of a William “Suhaib” Webb, a very popular Muslim-Personality, originally from Oklahoma, then, upon receiving Ijazat/Islamic-Accreditations to teach Islam, at al-Azhar University, relocated to California, and thus relocated, again, to Boston, Ma. I’ve actually had the opportunity to discuss several serious religious issues with Suhaib (which he is commonly referred to), both publicly, via panel-forums, as well as confidentially, in-private settings. He is someone whom I sincerely respect, and enjoy listening to, as well as discussing things with. Now, that doesn’t mean that I will with everything that one particular individual brings to the table. However, William has proven quite capable of being a viable, positive resource for Muslims, and is able to reach them where they really are, which is what has always been needed, yet, sadly, has been missing for many a years, within our Muslim-Communities, both within the Western-Hemisphere, as well as within the conventional “Muslim-World”. This following article is about Suhaib’s synthesis/breakdown of the very popular “Breaking Bad” AMC T.V. show.

The Theology of Breaking Bad: Avoiding Becoming Walter White-

1. Understand choices – “Indeed, We showed them to the way (of truth)….”.(Noble Qur’an: Chpt.41, V.17)

2. There is no moral neutrality – Choices breed consequences for the soul and life. “Every soul will bear its burden.”.(Noble Qur’an: Chpt.2, V.286)

3. Walter said, “For once, I want a say in this.”; however, test and trials cannot be addressed with narcissism, but with submission: he first leads to calamity, the second leads to Futuhaat (exposure/revelations answers to things which we question).

4. Sin and moral decline are a slow burn – don’t underestimate thoughts. Breaking bad took 5-Seasons. al-Ghazzali said, “Zina starts in the mind.” ibn al-Qayyim said that “Satan is forbearing: he will wait to catch you when you are weak.”

5. Trust in Allah means through the good and the bad – hardships should not be used as an excuse. “Revere (Respect/Fear Allah [be ever conscious of Allah]) Allah wherever you are.” Wherever you are means you physical, spiritual and mental states must be aware that, “At least you know Allah see you!”.(an-Nawawi)

6. Understand the value of the Hereafter vs. This life. If that is there, Walter will never exist. “Paradise is surrounded by difficulties.”.(al-Bukhari)

7. Sins/Sinning is a “slippery-slope”: once you fall in, it is hard to get out. Walter got better and still sold meth. In the Qur’an we find the story of people whose boat was rocked by a storm and “…supplicated to Allah, with earnest/sincerity. But, when they were safely taken to land, they immediately associate (false-qualities to Allah).(Noble Qur’an: Cpht.29, V.65)

8. Blessings can be curses if they are not met with a renewed commitment to God. Walter’s wealth is a curse as is health and other Ni`am/divine-favors (of Allah/from Allah). It is not so much about what, buy who it is used. Even the Qur’an can be a potential threat to a person, “And, the Qur’an is a proof for you, or against you.”.(at-Tirmidhi)

Moral decline is based on a few things (often intangibles): fear, Illness, doubt and desire. Fight them with knowledge, Ihsan, love good friends (Walter was a loner and Jesse needs loves), and understanding the value of the Hereafter.

The following formula plays out in our lives every day: Reverence/Consciousness (Respect & Fear of Allah) or Fear and love (of Allah) or Fear (of Allah) and Love of this life happen everyday in our lives. Clean hearts are able to see through that and make choices based on divine teachings and a good support system. The theology of Breaking-Bad is a lesson in how a person can lose his moral compass by making a series of choices that are rooted in fear.

On a final note, the fatalism of breaking bad is problematic. Some folks do evil and do not see it in this life. Walter continues to get worse. Some folks do good and don’t see it. The unseen and how a person is addressed in this world is rooted in the divine knowledge. Fatalism is not a means to measure Good or evil. The Book and the Sunnah are!

My St. John’s University Adventure (trust me, this is funny!!!):

Standard

This is how my story goes:

Back in 2011, I was going to an Islamophobia lecture at St. John’s University, by John Starling, an instructor at the Foundation for Knowledge and Development, in New York City. When I got there, the posters for the event were all gone. And, no one seemed to know where this event was taking place. So, I’m basically walking aimlessly, around the St. John’s campus. Then, I walked pass one of the on-campus dorms, and then half of the St. John’s female basketball team is walking in front of me. Then, one of them looked back at me, like she knew me. Then she starts this conversation with me, askin’ me who I am, whether or not I’m a student @St. John’s…all of the above.

What happened was just crazy…one of the basketball players, on the female team, wanted to add me on Facebook, to get to know me better, and then……..well, you know……lol!!! Anyway, she was there that night, the girl who wanted to add me on Facebook. Her friends were teasing her about not steppin’ to me when she saw me that night. Then, they started askin’ me did I wanna roll wit them……..I definitely knew what time it was-their angle was simple, they were tryin’ to make a baby-daddy outta me!!! But, I just simply told them that I was Muslim, that’s what drove them even crazier.

Let’s just say that after that night, I can respect & appreciate Don Imus’ comment about the Rutgers female basketball team being “Nappy-Headed Hoes” because that’s exactly who the St. John’s female b-ball team were, a bunch of horny “Nappy-Headed Hoes”……..SMMFH!!! But, what made it even worse was that there were only three of them who were kind of pretty-the rest were just wounded……..And, I mean “WOUNDED”!!! I felt so disrespected, that I had to call the Devil & tell him: “Yo, my NIGGA, you play too much!!! How you gonna just disrespect me by sendin’ some ugly broads to try to throw me off of Allah’s path, I expected better from you. Then, he promised that he would send me prettier girls, to tempt me with. So, I said, “Aight, but you still gonna lose…..LOSER!!!”

And, that’s my St. John’s adventure!!!

By the way, this is in no way a made-up, or exaggerated story……..this really happened!!!
